Smart fortwo Goes Brazilian

You may head down to Brazil’s famous Carnival next year and see an army of Smart cars pulling floats and being gyrated on by nude, body painted dancers. That’s right – Smart is about to invade South America!

Smart has announced their fortwo city car will hit the streets of Rio and other Brazilian cities in April 2009. Smart believes their fortwo fits the prerequisite Brazilian commuters look for when shopping for an automobile. It can also handle the crowded, centuries old roads with ease.

Smart fortwo comes to Brazil

Smart owners DaimlerChrysler have announced the introduction of fortwo “Carnival Edition!” (ok, we made that last part up) for the São Paulo Auto Show, and hopes to steal a few eyes away from the hefty amount of inexpensive prostitutes who will no doubt be crawling the event. Nearly 30,000 new vehicles are registered throughout Brazil each month, São Paulo’s developing market (ie, more road congestion) is one DaimlerChrysler wants fortwo to tap into successfully.

Brazil can top China as the next big market for Smart, ahead of the mid-2009 Chinese introduction already planned.
