IIHS Small Car Test Equals ForTwo Fail

You know, I’ve been seeing more Smart Fortwo’s around the greater North Eastern region of America than I can count. And apparently the ForTwo can take a front end collision into a wall, but despite this a Smart car still can’t take a hit from another car. The IIHS (Insurance Institute for Highway Safety) gave our favorite tiny vehicle it a failing grade.

No one is really surprised that such a small vehicle gets trashed when coming in contact with a medium-to-full sized sedan at over 40 miles per hour, let alone a tank like the Mercedes shown in our video. We would like to see someone put this slow motion crash video to some classical music ala Clockwork Orange. The Mercedes scored a “good” rating by the IIHS, which the Smart Fortwo received a “poor.”
